Eagle Flies Northwest

I recently embarked on a journey to Washington to enjoy some much needed time off. While on my travels, I encountered some interesting folk and saw some interesting pieces of American, which I would like to share with the rest of the nest.

The first night there, we went to a local watering hole and I commenced testing the many fine brews that Washington has to offer. Whilst drinking and playing pool, we met a unique chap named Michael. Michael was about 50 or so, and obviously not sober. He introduced himself to each of us, shaking everyone's hand, went to the bar to get a refill, and came back, where he proceeded to introduce himself to each of us again. Later in the evening he said that we were all "informants" and "narks" working for the government.

The next day's adventures were personally fulfilling as I visited the graves of Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee. The highlight was going to Kurt Cobain's (Nirvana) former house were he was killed. I have been a big fan of Nirvana for a long time, so it was quite meaningful. There was a park bench next to his house that fans had left messages. I added my mark, writing... "Only the forgotten die...HERE WE ARE NOW, ENTERTAIN US" (partly from lyrics to Smells Like Teen Spirit). Later that night, we went to an old bar that was shaped like a tea pot. It was decorated in stuff you would pick up at the local Goodwill or garage sales. I was fond of one beer "Olympia" or OLY as they called it. The label read: "It's the Water". The bartender said that he referred to it as "Making Love in a Canoe" cuz it's Fucking Close to Water! I thought it was hilarious.

Other highlights included seeing the ocean for the first time, going into the "Thrift Shop/Spay & Neuter" (there was seriously old clothes up front and dogs barking in the back), getting drunk with a Japanese guy that wore a hat that made him look like OddJob from Dr. No (he gave me the hat), eating in the Space Needle revolving restaurant, drinking grapefruit beer, having a beer called "Moose Drool", and finding a bar that had skee-ball machines.

The pic was the Welcome sign to Aberdeen, WA, Cobain's hometown. The bottom was added to honor him after he was killed.
The scenery was meant for a soaring Eagle, and I def recommend it!!

Since then, what's been on my iPod? Lots of Nirvana, including the acoustic "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam" from the Unplugged album...orginally by Europe's The Vaselines

From the inspirational words of Kurt Cobain (RIP, I know you didn't do it)...
"COME AS YOU ARE..."
