From the Porch volume 1 week 5 (the poem)

I was all set to right the 12 greatest things about the show this week and do a little Ranting and Raving about Josh aka Frank but a bigger issue has surfaced.

dance kid dance
by john paul derryberry

Dance kid Dance into stories
Dance kid Dance into memories
I imagine arms flailing away
to the motion of his own drum
as laughter comes from everyone
in waves as the little boy hums
dance kid dance into stories
dance kid dance into memories
I imagine a smile a mile wide
going down a twisting slide
teaching as much as he learned
as he two stepped on by
Dance kid dance into stories
Dance kid dance into memories
I imagine crazy legs boucning up and down
a boy doing his thing turning frowns
just by listening to the music in his head
and as his feet charlie brown tread
Dance kid dance into stories
dance kid dance into memories
I must imagine as the boy is no longer
taken to early from many lives but moments linger
and I wasn't lucky enough to meet this boy wonder
but the fun loving dancer made his mark on this two left footed blunder
hearing tails of his light shoe taps
he waltzed through my soul and made me clap
dance kid dance into my stories
dance kid dance into my memories
imagine now a boy light as a feather
dancing no matter the weather
let it wash over through your mind, until your lost
and you feel the joyful boast of a boy as he
dances Kid Dance into everyone's memories
dance kid dance into the hearts of people you never knew

A little ten year boy passed away this week. Three of my co-workers knew him and knew him rather well. This was my thoughts when I heard them tell stories of the boy I hope you can't shake the image of happy go lucky kid dancing for no reason because it will remind how short life really is but also it will shout out loud no matter the age some one can leave a mark on your heart. My list this week will be 12 people who I care about deeply. I'll probably cheat and through a couple extra and through some groups on there but who cares this is about sending shout outs to. My challenge to you is instead of commenting on my post, do the same thing send a shout out to who ever you thought about while reading my poem, it will be a true tribute to this child we didn't know and can be a gift to my three co-workers so they know his death helped people the kid didn't even know. I believe the record for post is 7 or 8. I challenge TUD Fans to double, triple that number on this post, please make people stop here and appreciate life. I have decided I will always care about things like this it is who I am and I'm going to be proud of it. I have a small readership of friends and I have decided that I'm done worrying about finding a huge audience I'm going to grow because I care about my small audience. Come on Tud fans show your caring side. To My the list
1)Mom, David, and Crystal and not just because they are family but because they believe in me enough that they believe 100% with their hearts that I can change lives with my book project and are always telling me it's only a matter of time before I open the right door and I can have my dream of always being able to care for people and about their problems. You can't put a price on the feeling of confidence from your family
2)Braden and Kyle. I would have never been the person with out Braden who gave me confidence to be my goofy self, and recently shown me that my serious and adult side was rather like as well. Without Kyle would never known the depths of blunt honesty and I'm one person who appreciates that, plus I get things like "Your a boyish girl" but in all honesty through thick, thin, no money, money, no cars, cars fighting, good times the three of us find a way through it laughing, just imagine if the three of us had money

These next people could be in any order
3)Jim aka Marcus, Rott, and Scotty don't, these three guys are just impressive people with great respect for people and them selves. And all three of them snuck up on me and we started hanging out, and then kept hanging out, and then one day I realized wow I have three more great friends. Thanks fellas
4)Mr. and Mrs. Letzing first off I can't think of two people better fit for each other, it makes me want to puke. And second I like both of them from day the day I meet them, their views, their ability to put up with the guys mentioned above and below and their ablility to sacrifice to help others. Yeah that sums it up
5)Doug our lead singer who needs to grace the blog at least once a month, but he is a different cat from the rest of the band and that is what makes him fit with us. He knows where he came from and tries hard to stay true to those roots I more than admire that I love that
6)Matt aka Cham (and all his friends Carl, waylin, ati, amir and so on) you know that guy in college that introduces you to real world and show you high school wasn't the best time of your life, this is my guy
7)The librarian; Everyone who has ever known me never thought I would make it to 5 months with a girl, well screw you I'm at 7 and loving it I would go into more but one she's not the emotional type and two I don't want to hear it from Marcus next time I see him
8)Sarah (this includes her friends as well) a crazy girl who I know more about than most wish to know but I got nothing but love for her and it's always a good time
9)Chris (and Heather) and Troy two guys I really hope I'm like when I'm older
10)The MIU what Crowd you know you are
11)My few friends still back in Ohio, Sarah, Jackie, Mel, Steph, Lisa, Burt, Shaun and anybody I'm leaving off
12)All the kids from friendly house, metro kids care, blackhawk and lowell ykids as well as everyone at play days
13) everyone from 118 that's all have to say

Life is always a work in progress

sorry went one long

To Zac VW for being absolutely ridiculous and reliable at the same time.
To Peggy for being a legend.

I first thought of my brothers and I when we were young and care free play about in the yard our made up games that we thought were the coolest shit ever.
I moved then to my brother Titus and how he brightens up my day everytime i think of him and talk to him.

whoever knew there were thoughtful sides to us drunken monkees?
1) To the guys that have been the best older brothers/mentors/friends a Jim could ever be blessed with meeting, there really arent words:
Braden- for showing me honesty, open mindedness and responsibility to your integrity while being F-ing hilarious the whole way. I look at the world differently everytime i talk with yauk. somebody i respect and admire immensely.
J.P.- for bringing me under his tutelage and passing down some of the rules. Wait it OUT!! but also for being honest to a fault and a real genuine friend. He's taught me some indispensable life lessons on everything from girls to basketball to dealing with loss and i could never thank him enough.
Fresh-(doug): Even though he'll never see this. Fresh took in a dumb freshman, showed me the ropes and connected me to a lot of the people i love so much today. He taught me so many things just by his style i cant fit them in. Just wish i'd get to see him more than once a month. Still the best b roller i have ever met and probably will meet, machines arent as meticulus.
To Adam "fortune500" Rottinghaus- One the best suprises I got in college was meeting and getting to know this guy. So unique, intelligent and thoughtful, ranger rott could hook up a campsite, tent, fireplace and grill in a matter of minutes while throwing down a few and rollin up sumpthin nice. He's such an example to me of taking off if u feel the mission is worthy.
To my family- who has always been there for me
To B warner- who showed me some of the meaning of family. exposed me to a great array of music, movies and books that impact me everyday.
to coralie turner-one the most special people i have ever gotten to meet in my life. she is the definition "people person".
To Jim (strand), Kid and Marty- For being some cool ass sidekicks and friends.
To Luke Pence and his family- for being a great friend andmy second family for so long, even when i didnt appreciate it.
To amanda, the librarian- For maturing me to think of other people. gonna have to cut her off a little early next time tho, not everyone can hang with the dannies, cuz even if they/we arent rock stars/groupies, we party like em-(thats a quote from braden).
To some of the extended uncle danny family- scotty don't and Letzring for being fellow hardcore TUD fans and showing what dedicated friends do for thier posse. to rossco- its been great getting to know the scotsmen, his cd has been in heavy rotation in my disc changer.
Prater: haha just prater
Well amigos if ur still readin my incoherent ramblings i just wanna say much love to the aforementioned. Its been steller.

jim
